Today we covered 12.1 and 12.2.  The ICP for both:  12.1  page 712 #31-43 odd (find BOTH domain and range), #45, 49, 53.  12.2 page 719 #19 - 47 odd.

Don't forget that the test for chapter 11 will be on Friday, Dec. 5th.  I will be available after school on Tue, Wed., Thur,  from 2:40 to approx 3:30.

We have now completed chapter 11 and the test will be on Friday December 5th.  The ICP for today is page 694 #27 - 37 odd and #43, 47, and 49.  

We will be finished with chapter 12 by December the 9th which leaves us with approximately 14 days to review what we've learned, practice what we struggle with the most, and get started on the next math course.

BAT testing is both Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, meaning that block two will not meet again until Thursday, Nov 20, the day of the chapter 10 test.  For that reason today's class time was devoted to a chapter 10 review.

For block 2 only:  You must read section 11.5 from the text and complete the examples given in the book.  Based on the directions from each example you are to then do problems 4 - 34 from page 673 which will be due Thursday before the test.  Self-teaching is a valid method of learning, that's why it is so popular in college.  I, however, do not intend for you to do the entire section on your own.  You must see me before school on Tue. and Wed, or after school on Tue. and Wed. to get assistance if it is needed.  For those of you who already have a credit in Algebra, this should be relatively easy since it is a repeat for you.

For blocks 3 and 4:  I do not want you to be two days ahead of block 2, therefore, I am spending two days on 11.5.  Homework for that section will be page 673 #4-34, and due on Thursday.

There will be a substitute on Friday and the work assigned will be due at the end of that class, and it will be for a grade.  Make sure you do your work independently.

We covered 10.7 from the textbook today.  ICP was page 622 #18 - 50 all.  If you did not complete it in class then it must be finished along with the homework:  page 623 #67-69 and #86 - 93.

For those students who  failed to answer the review questions concerning standard form of linear equations and x- and y-intercepts that were AGAIN asked on the ch 9 test, you will have a test on Friday covering those two concepts.  Since this will be the 6th and 7th times, respectively, that this concept has been covered, I do expect everyone to do well.

We finished 10.5 and started 10.6 today.  We stopped after ExEx 4 so that we could do some much needed drilling.  In-class practice, which must be completed for homework if not finished in class, was page 614 #18 - 47 all.

Tomorrow will be the test on chapter 9, it is cumulative.  This will be the 5th and 6th time that certain concepts (standard form of a linear equation and x-and y-intercepts of linear equations) will be tested.  I will call your  parents if you are still missing these. 

Friday will be outside so please come dressed appropriately.

We covered 10.4 and 10.5 today.  Tonight's homework is page 607 #15-41 all.

Don't forget that Thursday is the test on ch. 9.   We will try and go outside for class on Friday so check the weather and come dressed appropriately.

You will have to turn in the data collected/graphs from yesterday's class.

Tomorrow we will be having class outside in the horticulture garden.  The first and last 15-20 minutes of each class will be spent in the classroom.  PLEASE WEAR APPROPRIATE CLOTHING!!!!!!!

We completed sections 9.5 and 9.6 today.  Tonight's homework: page 536 #45 - 69 odd; and page 545 #21 - 28 all. 

Chapter 9 will be finished tomorrow and the test for chapter 9 will be next week Thursday, 11/6.

All tests will still be cumulative, therefore, if you need help with any of the past material, as well as the new,  please see me after school or go to NHS tutoring.

I forgot to put last night's homework on the blog.  It's a good thing I announced it in class for blocks 2 and 3 and had it on the board for block 4.  If you didn't write it down, you have until tomorrow to get it done, because today is a test day.

Please study for the test on Tuesday.  Remember that it is cumulative so go back and make sure you understand your mistakes from previous tests.

The remainder of the term will be as follows:  chapter 8 test:  Friday 10/17;  midterms: Wed.10/22 and Thursday 10/23  The midterm will be cumulative through chapter 9, and will consist of approximately 50-60 questions, all multiple-choice. 

We will start chapter 9 next week (10/13), but will not finish until after midterms.  There will be questions on the midterm from the early sections of ch. 9 but the test for chapter 9 will be after midterms.

Tonight's homework for 8.2 is page 459, #'s 15-27 eoo, #'s 31-45 odd, and #64.

We graphed exponential functions in class and you had to make an observation in your notebooks about the equations on page 460 #57-60.  Now is the time to start practicing with the graphing calculators to see how the graphs change as the equations change.  You can come to class before school and most days after school to practice with the classroom calculators.

As announced in class, you must bring in the dimensions of the American flag on Wed. 10-1.  Print them directly from the internet.

Tonight's homework is:  7.5  page 430 #19-29 odd; do not graph them and use the method of your choice to solve.  Make sure you tell how many solutions there will be for each.  7.6 page 436 #15, 19, 21, 23, 26.  The graphs must be on either graph paper or a stamped grid.

Chapter 7's test will be Tuesday 10/7 and on Friday of this week I will collect vocab, which will be worth 100 points.

We covered 7.3 and 7.4 in class today.   Tonight's homework is:  page 414 #'s 25, 27, 29 and      page 422 #31 - 43 eoo, and #47

Freshmen boys in block 2: You need to read the sections and review the examples from the text before attempting the homework since you missed class. Please make sure you get the notes from someone in the class ASAP.  If you have any questions ask them in class tomorrow before we start the test review.
